HAVING got up early this Sunday morning, and thinking to myself what a glorious day it is going to be, I turned on the radio for the 6am news.
I punched the air with sheer delight when it was announced that Abu Qatada had left RAF Northolt in the early hours on a jet bound for Jordan after eight years of pussyfooting around and a cost of £1.5m to the British taxpayer. At last.
How ironic, the date being 7/7, eight years on from the London bombings.
It saddened me, however, that he was unable to take his wife and their children with him.
They will remain a burden for the British taxpayer.
Oh well, we can’t have everything. It’s a start anyway. That will be a few brownie points for the Home Secretary, Theresa May, pictured, and may (pardon the pun) be a step forward to her possibly becoming the new Tory leader for the next election.
