POLICE officers have blocked off a road in Kidlington.

They were called to an address in Morton Avenue at around 3.40am.

A police spokesman said the road was closed to allow a police operation to take place and the cordon would remain in place until further notice. There was no timescale for when the road would be opened.

She would not confirm the nature of the incident.

However a statement from police to residents said: "The road has been closed to allow police operations to safely take place and will continue to be closed until further updates are available.

"This is a contained incident and neighbourhood officers will be carrying out patrols speaking to residents, so if you have any concerns you can approach them.

"We strongly advise you to avoid the roads in and around Morton Avenue as there will not be any access, due to police operations.

"Currently we are not in a position to say when the roads will be opened again, so we would urge you to take the road closures into consideration when planning your trip.

"If you have any concerns or questions, you can speak to the local neighbourhood officers who will be in the area."
