A YOUNG woman who was killed in a car crash was remembered at a special event at the weekend, ahead of an inquest into her death today.

Amy Reynolds, 26 of Wheatley, was killed on January 19 when her blue VW Golf left the A40 Northern Bypass near Oxford’s Green Road roundabout.

Friends and family paid tribute to the popular children’s worker at The Mason’s Arms pub in Headington by raising money for charities she supported.

Keisha Roachford helped organise the evening on Saturday with Miss Reynold’s cousin, Louise Trueman.

Ms Roachford said: “Amy supported a lot of charities including Parasol Charity and Let’s Play Project.”

Miss Reynolds attended Sandhills Primary School in Terrett Avenue, Sandhills, and Wheatley Park School in Holton.

She volunteered as a children’s worker at John Watson School in Wheatley and had recently qualified as a social worker at Ley Community Drug Services rehabilitation centre in Yarnton.

Three weeks ago, she posthumously received a degree in social work from Oxford Brookes University, which she was close to finishing when she died.

Miss Reynolds’ grandmother, Cynthia Jacobs, from Sandhills, said: “Saturday was absolutely fantastic and I think everyone was a bit overwhelmed by it.

She added: “Amy was a fantastic person and it was such a tragedy when she died.

“There were pictures of her on the pub’s walls and we all found it very moving.”

Mrs Jacobs said she was not aware of the inquest and did not think she will attend.

Owner of The Mason’s Arms, Stephanie Meeson, 76, Miss Reynold’s great aunt, remembered her as a vibrant girl.

She said: “Amy was such an outgoing and friendly person.

“It was a successful night and there was a lovely atmosphere.

“Amy worked at the pub and was a very valuable member of staff, as well as being a wonderful niece.”

At the event, Miss Reynolds’ cousin, Harry Trueman, 21, dedicated a rap that he had created with Joseph Jacobs, 21, to the popular children’s worker.

Guests enjoyed food and took part in a tombola to raise money for the charities Miss Reynolds backed.

The inquest into Miss Reynolds’ death starts today at Oxford coroners’ court at 10am.
