It was back-breaking work at the Oxford Castle Quarter yesterday as the construction of the city’s very own man-made beach got under way.
Twenty-four tonnes of sand were spread outside The Big Bang restaurant by owner Max Mason, right, and a group of former prisoners working for Aspire Oxford. And they’re expecting a delivery of 12 more tonnes today. Mr Mason is funding the £20,000 project. The beach will officially open on Monday.
