LAUREN Nicholson-Oliver is used to wearing school uniform during the day.

But this week the nine-year-old is donning bubble wrap and a makeshift silver hat ready for Sunday’s Cowley Road Carnival.

Lauren, front, and other Year four and five pupils at St Francis CE Primary School in Cowley have put the finishing touches to their costumes and dance routines ahead of the procession.

She came up with the costume idea of robots after a visit to the Mini plant – which is sponsoring the event on a Wheels of Change theme to mark the car factory’s centenary.

She said: “I saw the factory lines and I came up with the idea of robots for costumes.

“It’s been really fun!”

More than 240 pupils from 12 Oxfordshire schools have designed costumes and rehearsed dance routines with Fusion Arts ready for the big day.
