A BARBER in Bicester is looking for trainees to learn his trade in an eight-week course.

Andy Willis, left, owner of Sheep Street barber’s shop Andy’s, is on a drive to find three new recruits for his business in the wake of additional footfall the new Kingsmere development Sainsbury’s store is expected to bring.

Mr Willis said the trainees will be sent on an intensive eight-week course at Joseph Lanzante’s barber shop the Men’s Room, in Lancashire. He said: “I am looking for three enthusiastic people of any age to take up the trade. We will provide full training at no cost to the trainee and, providing they qualify, we will guarantee them a job.”

Mr Willis added that no experience of hairdressing was necessary.

He said: “People with less experience can be better because they haven’t picked up any habits yet. I would like to hear from any retirees who fancy giving it a go.”

Regular customers include Oxford United players Jake Wright, Alfie Potter, Sean Rigg and Deane Smalley.

The jobs are open to men and women, but Mr Roberts said those who take up the training scheme would be expected to stay with the company at least 18 months.

He said: “The only condition is that we’re not going to train them and then have them leave us.”
