THE red carpet was rolled out for students from across Bicester who attended their version of the Oscars.

For the third year running hundreds of school pupils made their own movies as part of the Bicester Schools’ Film Festival.

This year more than 350 primary school pupils created 38 films and on Tuesday, the best of the best were handed awards at a ceremony at Cooper School, off Churchill Road.

Best Animation award went to Ollie Gore, 10, of St Mary’s Primary School, for his film ‘Bullying’. He said: “I really had fun making it and while I was making it I hoped I had a chance at winning.

“I was very pleased to have been chosen on Tuesday to win and I’m delighted with my trophy.”

This year’s guest of honour former head of the British Film Institute, director and producer Mamoun Hassan, awarded Best Film to Longfields School.

Longfields teacher Bob Kellam said: “It was the children’s idea. We are very proud of them.”
