A FEMALE bystander was knocked unconscious during a brawl in Oxford city centre that involved up to four men.
Police are appealing for information following the fight, which happened at about 3.45am on Sunday while the group of men were waiting for a taxi in St Aldate’s.
The 23-year-old bystander was struck in the back of the head and she was taken to hospital with concussion and bruising to her head.
Investigating officer Pc Stephen Mather, from St Aldate’s police station, said: “An innocent female was violently assaulted in a completely unprovoked attack in front of many people.
“The taxi area was very busy and so we believe someone must have seen who was responsible for striking the woman, who had no involvement in the fight whatsoever.
“She was fortunate not to suffer serious injuries and such unnecessary violence will not be tolerated by Thames Valley Police.”
Anyone with information should contact Pc Mather on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
