Swimmers raised more than £1,000 for a water pipeline project in Oxford’s twin town by taking part in a charity swim.
A total of 51 fundraisers swam more than 500 lengths between them on Monday afternoon at Hinksey Outdoor Pool in Abingdon Road to raise cash to provide clean water for Leon in Nicaragua.
Councillors John Tanner and Mark Lygo completed 10 and 50 lengths respectively. Organisers from the Oxford Leon Association are hoping to raise £3,000 as more sponsorship is collected.
