IT was past her bedtime, but Evelyn Morley got the chance to practice patchwork chalk drawing in a late-night opening at Oxford’s Asmolean Museum.

The attraction in Beaumont Street launched its Live Friday series earlier this year, and on the last Friday of each month the museum opens its doors from 7pm to 10.30pm.

Last week visitors were invited to take part in a series of drawing sessions as part of an event called Come Draw with Me. There were workshops and demonstrations so that visitors could improve their drawing techniques.

Oxford University administrator Laura Morley, 40, who lives in North Oxford, said: “Evelyn really enjoyed the Live Friday event. We were at the museum until about 9pm so it was past her bedtime.

“She likes drawing but she hadn’t used chalks before and really enjoyed it.”
