Sir – During the last few months we are seeing in the media negative reports about certain hospitals in the UK.

May I take this opportunity to encapsulate my family’s experiences during the last 18 months. My grandson was born with Down’s Syndrome at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, in Buckinghamshire.

There were a number of serious problems, so they sent him to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. During the next few weeks, every effort was made to diagnose his problems, no effort was spared and the care and consideration by all the staff were first class.

My wife and I have recently undergone a number of tests for possible cancers at both the Churchill Hospital Oxford, and the John Radcliffe Hospital. And our treatment during the tests was magnificent, thoroughly professional at all times.

I also attended the Gastroenterology Unit at the Horton Hospital, for many years, with the best possible investigative treatment.

My point in writing this letter is to acknowledge the excellent treatment at the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS, with a special mention for Langford Medical Practice, Bicester. Tony Wizard, Upper Arncott
