ON the day when increased parking charges at the main Oxford hospitals have been announced, may I suggest one way (albeit a small one) where savings in hospital costs could be made?
An elderly neighbour was confused to receive three separate envelopes (each containing a letter and a booklet on patient information) for appointments at the same clinic on the same day.
The only difference being three different times at hourly intervals. He could not attend and the appointments were cancelled.
A further three envelopes have now been received, again with three appointments at hourly intervals, with no explanation as to what they are for.
When I telephoned the appointments clerk she was apologetic but said she could do nothing about the process as it was due to the new computer system.
If this expense concerning only one patient is repeated for unknown other patients, how much paper and postage is being wasted?
