CHIPPING NORTON: Controversial plans to create a kebab shop in Horsefair have been granted planning permission.
An application to change the use of the former shop into the takeaway was thrown out by councillors in 2011 due to concerns an extractor chimney would have to be built over the roof line and would damage the conservation area.
But, despite 27 letters of objection from residents, a redesigned scheme was granted permission at a West Oxfordshire District Council meeting last night.
Councillors decided new odour controls in the chimney meant it did not need to be built over the roof line.
