Villagers celebrated in 1974 when they won the Marlborough Trophy in the best-kept village competition. John Cripps, chairman of the Countryside Commission, presented the trophy for the best village with a population between 700 and 1,400. He is seen unveiling the plaque, watched by the competition chairman, Mrs G Chapman.
