A CYCLIST found lying in the road with severe head injuries has died.

The 53-year-old was discovered in Brumcombe Lane, near Bayworth, by a member of the public on Monday.

He was taken to Oxford's John Radcliffe hospital but died on Tuesday, police have said.

It is believed he had been cycling downhill from the direction of Boars Hill towards Bayworth.

Officers have been making enquiries in the area to try to establish the circumstances which led to the death.

Brumcombe Lane was closed for much of the day on Monday to allow for forensic investigations.

Sgt Jack Hawkins said: “We are appealing for anyone with any information about this incident or who may have seen the cyclist riding a blue bicycle in the area shortly before 7.30am to contact police.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.
