A TEENAGE girl told police she was raped in Headington.
Police have this afternoon appealed for witnesses after the incident.
Officers said shortly before 9pm last Tuesday, a 17-year-old girl was allegedly approached by a man in an alleyway between Waitrose and Bury Knowle Park.
She told police the man raped her, before leaving the area. The girl is believed to have known her alleged attacker.
Police are appealing for a man who reportedly saw them together to come forward.
The witness was described as white, in his mid-40s, with stubble and he was wearing a green waterproof jacket.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Matthew Hodgetts said: “We are looking to speak to the man who walked past the young man and woman in Bury Knowle Park.
“We would like to speak to him urgently, as we believe he is an important witness.
“A man has been arrested."
Anyone with information should contact DC Hodgetts by calling 101.
Anyone who doesn’t want to speak directly to the police can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.
