A FAMILY with a disabled son has relived the terrifying night they were attacked in their Oxford home.

George Mackenzie, 52, from Priors Forge in Cutteslowe, has told how three teenagers forced their way into his house, punched him repeatedly in the face and stole his disabled son’s lunch money.

The boys, all wearing hoodies, hit Mr Mackenzie four times, splitting his lip and yelling “Where’s the money?”. They ransacked his house, stole £20 and a Playstation belonging to his son Nial, who has Down’s syndrome. Nial, 22, and family friend Neil Adams sat terrified as the home was raided last Tuesday night.

Mr Mackenzie said: “I answered my door at about 7.50pm and as I opened it I was punched in the face four times.

“Three youths came in repeatedly yelling ‘where’s the money?’.

“I didn’t know what they were talking about, but I rent a room to a man and I think it was a case of mistaken identity.”

Mr Mackenzie, who is currently unemployed, said his lodger disappeared last Wednesday, and he thinks he might be in Spain.

“The lad who punched me in the face threatened to gas me three times,” he said.

“I have got a disabled son and I am there to protect him. I wasn’t going to kick off in case he really did have a can of gas.”

One of the attackers was of mixed race, about 5ft 5in tall, wearing a pale blue hoodie pulled up tight around his face.

Another of the boys was shorter, with a “contorted, vicious look on his face”, wearing a grey hoodie.

The third was wearing a baseball cap and Mr Mackenzie said: “He just stood there saying ‘don’t come near me’. They were 17 to 19, possibly younger.”

Mr Mackenzie said that while the third youth kept a watch on him, the other two raided the house, searching for money.

“I hardly have anything to take,” he added, “I just think it’s diabolical that these men robbed a disabled young man.”

He said the £20 they took had been Nial’s to pay for lunches at the day centre he goes to.

Police last night appealed for help in tracking down the three youths.

Det Con David Rogers said: “This was a nasty attack on an innocent victim who has been left very shaken by the incident.

“We appeal for any witnesses who may have seen the three offenders running away from the scene or who may be able to identify the offenders to contact us.”

Anyone with any information should call Dc Rogers via the police inquiry centre on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
