MOVIE star Sir Ben Kingsley will be the guest of honour at a Witney cinema tonight to help a girl who lost her arms and legs to meningitis.

The Gandhi star and Spelsbury resident will introduce a special screening of his new movie Iron Man 3 at Cineworld to help raise funds for Daisy Pashley, from Chipping Norton.

Nine-year-old Daisy lost part of both arms and both legs two years ago. She hopes to become a paralympian and her family are raising cash for prosthetic limbs for her.

Cineworld Witney operations manager Steve Wright said Disney and Marvel – which produced the superhero flick – have made a “sizeable” donation.

It is hoped the event will also raise awareness about the cause, for which donations are welcomed at daisyp.webs.com

Mr Wright said: “We’re very, very excited. It’s probably the biggest thing to happen at Cineworld Witney since it opened.

“It’s such a fantastic cause and we are all looking forward to meeting Daisy and hearing Sir Ben’s introduction to the film.”

The screening will begin at 7.30pm. Tickets are available through the Cineworld website and in person at the Marriotts Walk cinema.
