I WAS saddened to find that we may lose the last CD store in Oxford, with HMV possibly finally going under.
With the demise of Our Price, Virgin and Borders in the city centre, there remains nowhere to buy CDs or DVDs.
I am a very keen listener and collector of classical music and was shocked to discover, on a recent visit to HMV, that their classical department had been condensed from a whole floor to a small rack with very little choice. Apart from ordering CDs on the internet, there is nowhere now to enjoy a browse through the racks for a favourite recording.
Not everyone wants to order online and it is a sad sign of the times that many of this type of shops suffering at the hands of the internet.
