TWO teenage girls from Oxford have been found safe and well after travelling to Manchester to meet a 22-year-old man they met over the Internet.

A police appeal was launched on Monday to track down Crystal Watts and Chelsea Hutt.

The two 15-year-olds were last seen on Thursday at their home addresses in Blackbird Leys.

Officers were concerned that the teenagers had travelled to Manchester.

Within hours of the appeal, at about 5pm yesterday, the girls were found in Manchester.

Det Chf Insp Justin Fletcher, of Thames Valley Police, said last night: “The girls are now at a police station in Manchester.

“We were really worried about them. A lot of work has gone on here and with Greater Manchester Police.

“It is a relief to have found them safe and well. They had gone to meet someone who they had made contact with over the past few weeks over the Internet on social media sites.

“The main thing is that they are safe and well. The message to get across is to be wary. We have seen what can happen in other cases.

“Girls of any age need to be careful meeting people from Facebook and social media.”

No-one had been arrested in connection with the incident last night. Mr Fletcher said it was now a matter for Greater Manchester Police.
