More than 850 homes in West Oxford were affected by a power cut caused by fault in a Southern Electric cable.
The power cut hit homes in Osney and along Botley Road at about 6.15pm on Easter Sunday.
Most of the properties were reconnected by 7pm.
Engineers were last night still trying to trace the fault and carry out repairs.
