RAPPER Aaron “AZ” Buron had a passion for creating music.

That is why the dad-of-two’s family have organised what is a fitting tribute to his life – a concert with performances from his musician friends – a year on from his murder in Rose Hill.

The evening at East Oxford Community Centre in Princes Street on Saturday will be free, but donations to the trust fund supporting his two sons AJ, eight, and Cory, two, are welcome.

Aaron’s mum Eden Buron said: “He would be proud because Aaron just loved his family and his family loved him. He would say ‘yes mum, go for it’.”

She added: “We are devastated as a family. We are supporting each other, but devastated that our son was taken in such a way and the man who did it is alive and kicking. But we have our faith.”

The family painted a mural tribute to Aaron on their driveway in St Martin’s Road, Rose Hill, and laid flowers on Friday, including the words ‘RIP AZ, gone but not forgotten, your spirit is blessing our streets’.”

They visited his grave on Saturday, before having a quiet family day on Easter Sunday, the anniversary of his death.

Today, Aaron, right, would have turned 31 years old.

The hip-hop musician – who spoke out against knife crime in his songs – was just two days away from his 30th birthday when he was stabbed to death by teenager Haydan O’Callaghan in March last year. The 18-year-old O’Callaghan was given life in prison with a minimum of 21 years after a trial at Oxford Crown Court in October.

Sarah Craft, 25, mum to Aaron’s son Cory, said: “It is still surreal, but I know we want to celebrate the life he had and not mourn his life. We cannot get him back, just remember the good times and keep his spirit alive.”

She added: “I think it is nice just to remember him with all his close friends.”

The tribute gig starts at 7.30pm.

There will be performances from hip hop musicians Yankz and Raws and a body popping dance group.

Aaron’s best friend and former bandmate, hip hop artist Robert Nunley – known as Yankz – is performing in remembrance of Aaron.

The 27-year-old Rose Hill musician said: “Aaron lived for his music, so the best way to remember him is to keep the music going. “We have done a lot of music together and used to record together all the time.

“Aaron was a good person, and his family are good people, so as long as it is a positive atmosphere I’m hoping everyone has a good time.”
