FIREFIGHTERS have raised thousands of pounds for charity by taking over Swinford Toll Bridge.

The team from Eynsham Fire Station collected money at the bridge on Friday for the Fire Fighters Charity.

They estimate that between £2,000 and £3,000 was raised to rehabilitate injured firefighters and help their families.

The event was also used to highlight the important of installing smoke alarms and checking them once a week.

Watch manager Jon Hardy, of Eynsham Fire Station, said: “It was brilliant and people were really generous.

“We made thousands of pounds for charity and we were able to speak to lots of people to give them our safety message.”
