IT IS ironic that Didcot Power Station has now closed to comply with an EU directive on global warming.

We are enduring the coldest March for decades. Didcot is not a polluting power plant either. If it were, then the residents nearby would be suffering disproportionately from bronchitis and other maladies.

The problem is that non-toxic carbon dioxide has now been designated as a pollutant. All the main political parties now subscribe to this fallacy.

Ed Miliband, when he was Climate Change Secretary, introduced legislation to curb carbon emissions.

Try telling the trees and plants which depend on it for photosynthesis that CO2 is dangerous.

Since it was not economical to install measures to remove the carbon dioxide, Didcot has been forced to shut down.

If ever there was a reason to not be part of the EU, then surely our vital energy supply is the main one.

Even worse, we must now spend £100bn of taxpayers’ money to invest in new nuclear energy production.

Does anyone believe that carbon dioxide is more dangerous than radioactive nuclear waste?

A single speck of plutonium can kill, unlike carbon dioxide.

This green fallacy may be the reason that the EU economy is failing and it certainly will cost Great Britain its prosperity.

Wake up, politicians, and see how foolish this EU directive is for our economy.
