Nearly 30 years is a long time to devote to anything, but it’s clear Fred Ingram didn’t do anything by halves.

When he died earlier this month, he’d already become the first Lord Mayor to become a centenarian.

And if that and his life-long devotion to the city wasn’t enough, he’d also sat as chairman of the Freemen of the City of Oxford as well as being a very active member of Oxford Community Churches.

In short, he was a born and bred Oxonian committed to improving the lives of others who, like himself, regarded this city as their home. A truly outstanding man.
