Nottingham singer-songwriter Jake Bugg has had an extraordinary year — during which he has toured with Noel Gallagher and seen his album top the charts.

With songs about everyday life, his work has earned comparisons with The Beatles, Bob Dylan and Arctic Monkeys, which is not bad for a plain-speaking 18-year-old. Support comes from Valerie June and Hudson Taylor.

Solo project of former Black Nielson frontman Mike Gale, Co-Pilgrim is responsible for some of the loveliest songs we have heard this year.

A longstanding fixture at Truck festival, the Hampshire singer-songwriter returns for what should be the gig of the week. Expect a blend of sun-kissed country-rock and heartbreaking atmospheric folk-pop. Mike will be joined by Truck founder and Dreaming Spires guitarist Joe Bennett.

They will play from gorgeous new album A Fairer Sea. Also up acoustic troubadour Owen Tromans and Americana folkster Billy T’rivers.

In something of a coup, the O2 Academy has managed to get one of the country’s biggest indie-rock bands to play — for a fiver a head.

The Coventry three-piece play as part of the venue’s Propaganda night. The show follows the release of their third UK top 10 album Streets in the Sky, described by the band as the closest they’ve got yet to capturing their live sound in the studio.

Purveyors of the finest hard rock since 1969, UFO touch down in support of their 20th studio album, Seven Deadly.

he band’s history is littered with splits, spats and dark tales of rock and roll excess. Best known for rock anthems Doctor Doctor, Shoot Shoot, Rock Bottom and Too Hot to Handle. The band pride themselves on being one of the inspirations for Spinal Tap, having started a show late after getting hopelessly lost backstage.

Country girl Lindi Ortega slips into her trademark red boots for a show of Appalachian sounds. A native of Canada, Lindi is a genuine Nashville star. She has been described as a cross between Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton. She plays from album Cigarettes and Truckstops.
