GAY rights campaigners are wrong to criticise MP Nicola Blackwood for the way she voted on the gay marriage bill.

They obviously do not believe in equal rights for anyone who does not support their minority point of view.

MPs had a free vote on this issue and so Nicola had every right to vote whichever way her conscience dictated and she has explained her reasons fully for those constituents who were interested enough to ask.

As one of her constituents, I say “Well done Nicola” for not giving in to the bullying tactics of the gay ‘rights’ campaigners but sticking up for the rights of the many of her constituents who do not support this measure.

The fairest thing to do would have been to have had a referendum on this important social policy when all voters could have given their opinions in the privacy of the ballot box without the issue being hijacked by those who can shout the loudest.
