Luke McCormick got into his car then drove it while under the influence of drink.

Surely, this was self-inflicted and while, of course, we appreciate the fact that if he could turn the clock back, he would, nevertheless he drove his car while unfit through drink and ended up killing two boys.

I can’t possibly feel what emotions and pain the young boys’ family went through, and I hope I never have to.

Luke McCormick can visit his family whenever he pleases. This, of course, has been taken away by him for the family of the two young boys.

Yes, he has to live with this for what he has done, and while he has served a prison sentence he can now continue with his football career.

As for Oxford United signing him, I believe this will cause resentment in some supporters, as Oxford Utd calls itself a family club. So what message does this send to fans and parents, some of whom have played and trained with the club?

The players of Oxford Utd, of course, have to play with Luke McCormick as they are under contract to the club, but I do wonder what they must think, as most will have children and family.

On a further note, my son is a season ticket holder at the Kassam and has been for many years. On asking him what he thinks of the Luke McCormick signing, he says he will still put his bum on his seat and support the team, as it is not the players who have a say on who joins the club. This is down to the owner and management.

Fair point.
