MUCH as one would like to sympathise with the case for a cycle track alongside the B4044, it is regrettable to see cyclists demonstrating in support (February 8) by holding what is, in effect, an obstruction to that road.

As well as being a danger to themselves (including the children with them), they are a cause of stress to the drivers queuing behind who have to cross the carriageway in order to overtake them safely.

If cyclists riding in such a group (some without luminous jackets) can do so without coming to harm, they show how it could be even safer and less of a hindrance to other traffic to follow the Highway Code and go in single file. I write as a cyclist for many years and never a motorist.
