I read, with interest, the recent letters from Hugh Jaeger (ViewPoints, January 24) about a tram network in Oxford. Perhaps a pipe dream!
Last year I met him, by chance, on my virtually empty 101 bus from Oxford to Garsington. Indeed, a luxury coach ride for one passenger.
I wonder if, in his capacity as Bus Users Oxford Group chairman, he could help with negotiations between Garsington Parish Council and the bus company, to once again have a regular and reliable weekday service for our village?
Country buses are a lifeline. Previously the 101 service from Watlington via Chalgrove, Stadhampton, Garsington, including Southend, Cowley Centre and Oxford was well-used.
To amalgamate the present 101 and 106 service would surely be more economical and meet the needs of the above villages?
To my way of thinking, this is a simplified solution.
Let us leave our cars at home and enjoy public transport.
