YOUR article (February 4) about the proposed new Controlled Parking Zone for roads beyond the ring-road, east and west of the Banbury Road, missed some very important points.

The problems facing residents on the west are due to commuters, those to the east almost entirely due to people visiting Cutteslowe Park. This has been made worse by the introduction of charges by the city council for parking in the park itself.

The scheme itself has been developed by Oxfordshire County Council, not the city council as your article says.

The notice in The Oxford Times last week said that the restrictions would only apply Monday to Friday, which would be of little help to those suffering from weekend park visitors. The county council has agreed that the restrictions should apply seven days a week in the roads on the east.

All affected residents should get a letter this week telling them what is proposed. Consultation runs until March 7.

It is vital that everyone comments so that a final scheme which meets as many concerns as possible can be approved at the Council Transport Cabinet member meeting on March 21.
