I write in response to the letter appearing (ViewPoints, February 4) from a Mrs D Wyse, who suggests that the comments made by me (ViewPoints, January 23) are critical of her party’s district councillors.

She had the audacity to suggest: “Why doesn’t he stand as a councillor?”

The remainder of her letter mentions certain political parties no less than five times and appears to totally miss the point of my independent view about the many Kidlington sports activities, sportsmen and women who have gone unrecognised in the recent Cherwell District Sports Awards of 2012, as advertised in Cherwell Link.

Mrs Wyse should be advised that her reference to any current political leanings that I may have are totally inaccurate. I merely spoke with an independent voice on this subject.

It also may be of interest to Mrs Wyse that she should get her facts straight before going to print, as she may not be aware that both my wife and I served on the Kidlington Parish Council as local “councillors” for the four years between 1991-1995.

During my period of office and because of my interest in sporting matters, I worked closely with the late Ron Groves to find alternative sporting facilities in Kidlington, which eventually saw the new sports ground that is now at Stratfield Brake and one of the finest local sports grounds around. So please don’t tell me that we haven’t made some contribution to the village of Kidlington!
