Headington Secondary School's opera cast in 1971
HEADINGTON Secondary School took an ambitious step when it staged an opera.
A cast of 58 pupils, aged from 11 to 13, backed by an eight-piece orchestra, took part in Figaro and Susanna in 1971.
The opera had been specially adapted for children from Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro.
Samantha Dombay, 13, played Figaro and Mary Greenfield, also 13, appeared as Susanna.
