Sir – Very many thanks for Tim Hughes’ engaged and engaging interview with the wonderful Nick Moorbath (November 29). Could I presume, however, to make a biographical correction? Tim Hughes writes that: ‘Nick’s story started humbly enough, in Kennington’, when in fact in 1965, the year of Nick’s birth, his parents, the brilliant Oxford geologist and geochronologist, Stephen Moorbath, and Nick’s gifted artist-designer, mother, Pauline, were living in a former railway worker’s terrace in Horspath and didn’t move to Bagley Wood Road, Kennington, until 1967, where, I think, his sister Suzie was born and where his parents still live. My wife and I have reason to be grateful to Nick Moorbath: In his van-driving days he gave up time to help us move house..

It might fairly be said that Nick is absolutely a person for all seasons. Oxford’s very fortunate to have him.
