Cowley Road Works, the charity which organises Cowley Road Carnival, is organising a Silent Night at Oxford’s Ultimate Picture Palace tomorrow night (Friday) at 7.30pm.

Promising a festive evening of vintage cinema supported by a live soundtrack, two of Charlie Chaplin’s classic shorts, The Pawn Shop and The Immigrant will be screened, accompanied by a live soundtrack courtesy of The Mighty Wurlitzer.

In The Pawn Shop, Charlie competes with his fellow shop assistant, deals with his boss and several customers, one of whom turns out to be a thief, before he can finally save the day, while in The Immigrant, Charlie endures a challenging voyage and gets into trouble as soon as he arrives in America. These delightful films will be accompanied by festive food, drink and an opportunity to win prizes.

All proceeds from Silent Night will go towards the charity Cowley Road Works for its work in organising Cowley Road Carnival in 2013. Telephone 01865 245288 for further details.
