I HAVE lived in Kidlington all of my life and have two boys aged nine and 11. My boys are very active and love being outside and playing with their friends, particularly on their scooters.

I find it extremely frustrating that I have to get in my car and drive my boys to a skate park where they can use their stunt scooters. It seems that lots of the villages around Kidlington such as Eynsham, Long Hanborough and Cutteslowe all have this facility.

I have also read in your newspaper today that Blackbird Leys has just opened a new skate park. Kidlington is a large village with four primary schools and a secondary school, why do we not have a skate park?

All our play parks in Kidlington are aimed at young children and I would like to know which park the council would suggest I take my nine and 11-year-old to? We should be encouraging our youngsters to be active and a lot of parents do not have access to a car to drive their children to other villages’ facilities.

I feel, as a Kidlington resident, that we are constantly overlooked when it comes to improving facilities for the younger generation that live here.
