I TOOK the trouble to look up David Grossman and Amos Oz, as suggested by Bruce Ross Smith (ViewPoints, December 12), and this only confirms what I said in the first place – that the setting up of Israel amounted to the annexation of someone else’s homeland.

Believe me, there was nothing complicated about that because I lived throughout the whole sorry saga.

Further, it doesn’t help to read excuses from two Israelis as to why they should be in someone else’s land – it’s like some inmates of a prison, who are known to be guilty of a crime, always proclaiming their innocence.

Some of the blame for what happened must be put down to the British, who were supposed to be the protectors of Palestine.
