CAMPAIGNERS fighting the closure of an Oxford swimming pool have taken their fight to the Court of Appeal.

Earlier this month a High Court judge ruled that Temple Cowley Pools campaigners could not take their case to a judicial review.

They are hoping to stop the closure of the facility, which will lead to it being knocked down and a new pool being built in Blackbird Leys.

Jane Alexander, a member of the Save Temple Cowley Pools group, said: “The judge came to a decision which we didn’t think was accurate.”

Oxford City Council claims Temple Cowley Pools is in a poor state of repair and it would be cheaper to knock it down and build a new pool rather than fix it.

Van Coulter, board member for leisure services, said: “I think at this stage their argument is against the court rather than against us.”

The Court of Appeal confirmed an application had been lodged but said a date had not yet been set.
