THREE people were taken to hospital after being attacked by two dogs in Barton.

A 30-year-old man from Oxford was questioned by police after being arrested on suspicion of having a dangerous dog who was not under control.

It followed an incident in Aldbarton Drive shortly after 8am on Saturday.

One elderly man and two women were bitten by two dogs during the attack. All three required hospital treatment and one of the women was expected to undergo surgery at the John Radcliffe Hospital for arm wounds, according to Thames Valley Police Inspector Sandie Harris.

Mr Harris said: “Officers were called initially to a disturbance.

“When they got there two dogs had come out of a house and bitten three neighbours.”

One woman had puncture wounds to her wrist, while an elderly man had a bite to his upper left arm with a small amount of flesh removed and puncture marks.

The third victim had two bites on her right forearm, one of which had exposed muscles and tendons, and another bite on the upper part of her left leg.

Mr Harris said: “While the injuries are serious, they are not described at the moment as life-changing or life-threatening.”

Two dogs were seized by police and will be kept by officers until they conclude their investigation.

Mr Harris said it was likely that the dogs would have to be assessed by vets to determine their breed.
