Drivers using the A34 between the Peartree and Kennington junctions overnight should expect lane closures and temporary speed limits this week.
The restrictions are part of work to resurface sections of the carriageway.
The road will be shut southbound overnight between 9pm and 6am and traffic will be escorted past the work site in a convoy.
Work is expected to be completed in early January.
