COUNCILLORS have been urged to support a £300,000 investment in ultrafast broadband in Oxford.
The city council is working on a bid to the Government’s super-connected cities fund. Oxford was one of the 27 small cities invited to bid for a share of £50million in funding to achieve speeds of more than 80mbps.
In order to bid for the cash, the council has to stump up £300,000 of its own cash to help make the dream of faster broadband a reality.
Officers have recommended that the council’s city executive board approves the necessary funding after the Oxfordshire Local Economic Partnership put in £20k.
