Fine voices bring out festive spirit

HUNDREDS of people filled Abingdon town centre for a Christmas craft fair on Saturday.

People of all ages turned up to enjoy dozens of stalls selling a range of clothes, gifts and homemade products.

The craft fair also featured local choirs, accompanied by Ian Miles, and a brass band with the fun taking place in the Square in Abingdon.

Wendy Preston, 55, from Kingston Bagpuize, said she and a friend had spent the afternoon soaking up the festive atmosphere.

She said: “It was really lovely, especially with the band and choirs. Everything seemed really Christmassy.

“And I ended up buying far more than I meant to. There were leather stalls, stalls selling lovely Christmas cards, food stalls and all sorts.

“It was really busy for most of the day.”

Abingdon born and bred says...

I made my way through the market place on Saturday and saw 10-12 stalls not the dozens quoted in the report. I then had to fight my way past the workmen from the redevelopment that was going to be finished intime for the town Extravaganza on Dec 1st, that didn't happen either. Another bright dawn for Abingdon, not.
