Starbucks protest

First published in News

ACTIVISTS campaigning against tax avoidance held a protest inside an Oxford Starbucks on Saturday.

As part of nationwide action by campaign group UK Uncut, a small group gathered inside the chain’s Cornmarket Street branch. UK Uncut is demanding the Government clamps down on firms such as Starbucks, who pay relatively small amounts of tax.

What did they do/say?

How long were they there?

Was there any trouble?

What was the reaction/comment of management?

Were the police called?

Sloppy reporting, in fact, hardly any reporting at all. We could have gleaned this information in this story from a passer by.

Incidentally, although I'm not supporting Starbucks, I wonder how many of these 'activists' pay any tax.

If you disagree with Starbucks moves to pay no tax, simply patronise another coffee shop. There are plenty of them I sometimes wonder how they all survive. If enough people were to boycott Starbucks, they would soon change their policies. Hit them where it hurts - in the pocket!

So why were they not outside NO 10, instead of killing the trade of a law abiding businessman who is probably only a franchisee who pay his full share of tax. IDIOTS. I hope he gave then a free cup of Coffee......All over their heads. These people are so stupid that they don't even know where to aim their protests.

If any single one of those protesters ever uses either Google or Amazon, then they are hypocrites.
