PRIMARY school pupils sang in the festive season in Kidlington at the Christmas lights switch-on.

The Edward Feild Primary School pupils, pictured, entertained crowds in the village High Street on Tuesday evening.

About 45 children, aged seven to 11, performed five festive favourites including The Twelve Days of Christmas, Frosty the Snowman and Jingle Bells.

The school’s choirmaster and music teacher Jeremy Skertchly said it was a great atmosphere, adding: “There were lots of people. It was very chaotic.”

And he said the choir’s songs added to the event, saying: “It made it fun and added enthusiasm to the occasion.”

The event started at 6pm and there was also live band music, and local craft and charity stalls.

The lights were switched on at 7pm by choir girl and Year Six pupil Ella Blake.

The Bicester Road school’s choir will also appear next month at the village Tesco, and Glebe House care home.
