THE blood of homeless man Denis Witney, right, was found on the clothes of two of the people accused of his murder, Oxford Crown Court heard yesterday.

Forensic scientist Melanie Banks told the jury she analysed clothing and items from the scene of the alleged assault in a St Clement’s Street, Oxford, house in November 2011.

Wayne Cattell, 37, of Mortimer Road, Rose Hill, Daniel McCollin, 30, of Blay Close, Blackbird Leys, and Joanne Moriarty, 29, of Mortimer Road, Rose Hill, all deny Mr Witney’s murder.

Blood was found on the front of a pair of Cattell’s jeans, which were recovered by police officers from a bin in Magdalen Road.

Mr Witney’s DNA was also found in the blood stains on McCollin’s jeans, and the blood on his black coat was also likely to be Mr Witney’s.

The trial continues.
