IT’S only a year since Oxford Hub opened its permanent home in Turl Street, but already record-breaking numbers of students are signing up to its community work.
Oxford Hub helps students at both Oxford University and Oxford Brookes volunteer for charitable causes in the city and further afield.
One of its schemes involves taking students from both universities to some of Oxford’s primary schools, where they help children with their maths and English.
Among them is Charlotte Moss, from Magdalen College, who helps teach maths at St Nicholas Primary School in Marston.
More than 200 students are taking part in the Schools Plus scheme – the most there have ever been.
Coordinator Katie Braham said: “We understand the needs of schools and work with teachers to tailor sessions that work best for their pupils.
“It’s exciting to see the volunteers going out into the schools.”
