IT HAS been open for less than two years.
But in that time, Truck Store in Cowley Road, Oxford, has welcomed 100 different acts to perform within.
On Saturday, Phil McMinn, right, became the 100th act to perform live, impressing a packed crowd at the record shop alongside Family Machine and Richard Walters.
The 28-year-old musician, formerly of The Winchell Riots and Fell City Girl, said: “It was really buzzy, I have never played there before so it was nice to be the 100th person to play there. Truck Store has really brought Cowley Road back to life a bit.”
He had been due to perform there with The Winchell Riots but a power cut forced the band to cancel.
He said: “It’s crazy they have had 100 different acts. The place reminds me of an Oxford I was worried didn’t exist any more – but it clearly does.”
Manager Carl Smithson admitted it was likely to be rather longer to get the same number of new acts in, as a large proportion of the city’s bands have already taken to the mic in the shop.
He said: “It’s an amazing figure but testament to how good the local music scene is.”
The store originally opened in February 2011.
