Having scoffed all my Easter eggs, I really need a treat to look forward to. A weekend away ticks all the right boxes, so I’ve been trawling the internet to see what bargains are on offer and exactly how far I can make my modest budget stretch.

One of my favourite hotel chains is Radisson radissonblu.com because it has some particularly gorgeous ones in central London, including the eclectic Seven Dials district near Covent Garden.

It’s also offering short break special offers all over the world, including Brussels and Dubrovnik, many with a gourmet dinner for two plus buffet breakfast thrown in.

Menzies Hotels (menzieshotels.co.uk) has two-night stays for two people for £99 and since it has 12 four-star pads around the UK, there’s a wide choice of two-night getaway breaks, golf trips and spa days. Holiday Inn (ihg.com/holidayinn) has plenty of good deals, too, including under-18s stay for free when sharing a room with their parents and under-13s are given free breakfast, lunch and dinner from the children’s menu if they’re with an adult who buys an a la carte main course.

How about a two-night champagne break? Britannia’s UK hotels, (britanniahotels.com) includes dinner, bed and breakfast for £99 per person and locations range from Aberdeen and Bournemouth to London.

There’s a good-value summer sale on at the moment at Warner Leisure Hotels (warnerleisure hotels.co.uk) with breaks starting from £45 per person, per night but don’t hang around, as this particular offer ends on Sunday. Actually, don’t worry if you do because the company is also running a host of other packages, including Star Break weekends which feature performers including soul singer Billy Ocean, top soprano Lesley Garrett and Three Degrees star Sheila Ferguson and this offer is open until the end of November.

Of course, it’s always worth checking out laterooms.com, trivago. co.uk and lastminute.com as there are a number of fantastic deals to be had, though the really good ones do tend to disappear quickly and it’s annoying to find that what’s offered online may not exist when you try and book it.

If you fancy jumping on a plane, try travel supermarket.com which has an impressive line-up of city breaks in places like Barcelona, Amsterdam, Rome and Venice starting from £110 per person.

Don’t forget Eurostar (eurostar.com). It has a number of deals, including returns to Paris or Brussels from £69 and the hotels section of its website features accommodation at competitive prices.

For instance, you can mix-and-match return train and hotel trips to Paris and Brussels, by tailoring a package to suit you.

These include return train travel plus one night at a smart, centrally located three-star hotel at around £400 for two people. There are even two-for-one offers on museums and art galleries for a little je ne sais quoi...
