* If you like singing you can join novelist Valerie Blumenthal in a fundraising event for Alzheimer’s Research UK in Moreton near Thame on Saturday.
Singing for Alzheimer’s will take place at The Stevens’ Barn, Moreton, from 11am–1.15pm and singing enthusiasts are welcome to attend.
Valerie, who has trained as a classical singer, will be leading the sing-a-long event, which will include a varied selection of fun songs from the 60s to present day.
All guests will be provided with a song sheet and there will be a break for refreshments half-way through. All proceeds will be donated to Alzheimer’s Research UK and Oxford-based Young Dementia UK.

* Art historian, journalist and local author Iain Pears is coming to Blackwell’s to discuss his new novel Arcadia on Wednesday evening.
Iain is the author of the critically acclaimed An Instance of the Fingerpost which went on to be translated into several other languages.
Arcadia tells the story of 15-year-old Rosie who goes in search of her missing cat and ends up in a different world.
This is Iain’s first novel since 2009’s Stones Fall.
