The pair have struck up a friendship, with the Mexican filmmaker moderating a panel with the Canadian actor at SXSW to discuss the making of Ryan’s film Lost River.

They were photographed together at Disneyland in February, where they rode the Haunted Mansion ride in addition to Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain Railroad and the Pirates Of The Caribbean attraction.

Haunted Mansion, written by High Fidelity and Blade’s DV DeVincentis, was first announced at Comic-Con in July 2010, and has been in development since then.

The film would mark a homecoming for Ryan, who is a former Mouseketeer alongside Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera from 1993 to 1995. He also starred in Disney’s sports film, Remember The Titans with Denzel Washington.

He will next be seen opposite Russell Crowe in Shane Black’s crime flick The Nice Guys and an as-yet-untitled Terrence Malick film.

He is also in Adam McKay’s financial drama, The Big Short, alongside Brad Pitt, Christian Bale and Steve Carell.

“I just finished The Nice Guys with Russell Crowe, which was a lot of fun,” Ryan said in a recent interview.

“I’m just about to go do a film called The Big Short with Steve Carell, who I’ve worked with before (on Crazy, Stupid, Love) and I’m excited to work with him again, and a lot of great actors (like) Brad Pitt and Christian Bale.”
